[ Traitor or not, he couldn't let his nephew drown. What fun would that be? None at all. It would be boring and wasteful and far too easy. So he had him fished out of the ocean and thrown in the hold, and when everything else was settled, he paid him a visit. ]

[ It’s easy to forget in the darkness. He’d learned that beneath the Dreadfort, along with how easy it is to lose track of time. How long has he been down here, repeating his own name to himself? Over the roar of the waves, Theon hardly sounds like anything. In fact, Theon and Reek begin to sound quite the same.

He shakes is head wildly, pushes his remaining fingers into his hair as though he hopes to block out the memories and the sight of a face that looks far too much like his own once did.

Please—I’m not meant to remember the wolves. He’ll be angry with me.

[ It was never the Starks anyway, he dares to think. This was never their way. ]

That was never me. That was someone else.
